Darlene M. Goins, 72, of East Moline, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor P. Wonder Harris will officiate. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her granddaughters; Jalisa Hinton, Mia Franks, Jada Franks, Jalea Hinton, Aniah File, and Melanie Price.
Darlene Marie Lewis was born September 22, 1951; the daughter of Edward Lewis and Virginia Davis in East Moline. She worked at JI Case from 1978-1981 as a production mig welder. Darlene also worked for Oscar Mayer as a laborer. She opened her in home daycare business, “Luv-N-Care”, May of 1999 and the “The Top Shelf Lounge” until she became ill. Ms. Darlene was a pillar to her community. She gave back to her community by letting Churches United open “The WaterTown Food Pantry” in one of her buildings. Darlene was a giving mentor, she gave advice, cloths and food to anyone in need
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Stephen (Janice) Hinton, Jr. Moline, Toni Hinton-Driver, Nashville, TN, Tonya Hinton Franks, East Moline, Shawn Hinton, Atlanta, GA and Jason Goins, Atlanta, GA, 15 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild her siblings, Doris (Gerald) McLaughlin, East Moline, Benita, Larry, Christpher and Darrell Lewis of East Moline
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lewis and Virginia Davis, her brothers, Charles and Terry Lewis, her granddaughter, Kaleah Monique Goins
