Bonnie Lynn Smith

Bonnie L. Smith, 56, of East Moline passed away Friday, January 23, 2026 at  her home. 

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, Ltd., East Moline, Illinois.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services.  Rev. Scott Culley will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Freedom House.

Bonnie Lynn Smith was born October 25, 1969 in Duluth, Minnesota; the daughter of Cecil Smith and Dorothy Neuschwanger. She attended Pleasant Valley High School. Bonnie married Donnie A. Bryant.  From this union was born Amber L. Rangel, Angela “AJ” Bryant and Michael “Bubby” Bryant. She was presently working at the produce department at the Jewel-Osco Store, East Moline. 

Bonnie was an avid reader.  She loved “only good movies, only good music”.  She was a very proud mom who taught her children to sing into their hairbrushes.  Bonnie believed whole heartedly in retail therapy.  She loved to do a very loud Tarzan yell right before dropping her kids off to school, much to her children’s delight! Bonnie enjoyed working at Jewel-Osco; she was employed over 15 years. Bonnie enjoyed her time with her work friends and work kids.  There are many stories of work kids she listened to when their lives were upset.  She was the work mom. Bonnie was there ready to help her own beloved children when needed.  She will be missed deeply. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Amber L. (Chris) Rangel, Rock Island, Illinois, Angela “AJ” Bryant, Lincoln, Illinois, Michael “Bubby” Bryant, East Moline, Illinois, her grandchildren, Leo Steele, Ava L. Bryant,  Thomas Bryant, and Jasper Bryant, her sisters, Kathy Thompson, and Becky (Todd) Matz, her nieces Ashley Bryant,  Mercedes Bryant, and Elizabeth Matz her nephews, Thomas “TJ” Bryant, Grant Howard Ayers Dylan Ayers, Christopher Matz, and Matthew Matz,  her former husband, Donnie A. Bryant,  Davenport, Iowa, her special mom, Sandra L.DeRudder-Rippel and bonus dad, Jerry Thompson. 

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Cecil and Dorothy Smith.
